Cohesity announces the availability of its Cloud services solutions to its customers in Japan

Cohesity, a leader in data management and data security, today announced the availability of its Cohesity Cloud Services solutions to customers in Japan and existing customers operating in Japan. Cohesity Cloud Services is a portfolio of Software as a Service (SaaS) offerings that simplify data management and data security. The solution consolidates data in the cloud, breaking down data silos and reducing infrastructure complexity to increase agility and extract more value from data.

Cohesity Cloud Services is designed to give organizations the power to protect, classify, isolate, secure, threat intelligence and recover their data – all from a single multi-cloud platform. Cohesity manages the underlying Cohesity Cloud Services infrastructure and hosts the offerings in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Tokyo, Japan region. Starting today, customers in Japan can access two Cohesity Cloud Services offerings:

Backup as a Service: Cohesity DataProtect, delivered as a service, is a Backup as a Service (BaaS) offering that provides customers with an easy way to back up their cloud-native, SaaS, and on-premises data in a Cohesity-managed solution to secure and protect. Like Cohesity DataProtect’s on-premises solution, the BaaS offering provides support, security, and protection for a range of cloud workloads, including Microsoft 365 SaaS applications, Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS), Amazon S3 data*, Salesforce (SFDC)* and other cloud providers. In addition, Cohesity BaaS also offers support for on-premises data sources such as virtual machines (VMs), network-attached storage (NAS), and databases.

Data Isolation and Recovery: Cohesity FortKnox is a SaaS data isolation and recovery solution that can play a critical role in helping organizations mitigate the impact of cyberattacks like ransomware. This offering is designed to help customers improve cyber resiliency by providing an isolated and immutable copy of data in a Cohesity-managed cloud vault. If necessary, organizations can use this copy to reliably recover from attacks. With a modern “3-2-1” option fit for the cloud age and tight security measures, Cohesity FortKnox was designed to provide offsite protection while dramatically simplifying operations and cost compared to magnetic tape and self-managed data vaults. With Cohesity FortKnox, organizations can easily connect, archive, and recover while meeting stringent Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and regulatory requirements. Organizations have different budgets and recovery time objectives (RTO). That’s why Cohesity offers its customers two options for their critical needs, with both options providing critical security features including virtual air gapping, immutability with Amazon S3 object lock and role-based access control (RBAC), quorum (four-eyes principle), multi- Factor authentication (MFA) and a Cohesity Key Management System (KMS):

Cohesity FortKnox on Amazon S3 Standard-Infrequent Access Storage Class (Amazon S3 Standard-IA): For data that is infrequently accessed but requires fast access when needed. Already offered by Cohesity, this option includes instant data recovery with a minimum retention period of 30 days.

Cohesity FortKnox on Amazon S3 Glacier Flexible Retrieval (FR): This recently added option provides a low-cost cold storage option that offers SaaS cyber vaulting capabilities with recovery times from minutes to hours and retention periods of 90 days or more.

Additional Cohesity Cloud Services solutions will be made available in the future. As with Cohesity’s on-premises solutions, Cohesity Cloud Services offerings are part of Cohesity’s data cloud platform and can be easily managed from a user interface through Cohesity Helios. This modern approach to data management and data security helps customers consolidate many of the disparate services, products, and management consoles that organizations today often struggle to manage. This consolidation can further improve data security by helping organizations reduce their attack surface. Customers can also use Cohesity Cloud Services to offload spend from CapEx to OpEx.

“Enterprises and governments continue to face a deteriorating cyber threat landscape characterized by increasingly sophisticated and frequent ransomware attacks while continuing to digitize and leverage cloud technology. Cohesity Cloud Services is designed to help them improve their data security and protection capabilities, recover their data and business processes, and leverage attackers, which reduces business risk,” said Sanjay Poonen, Cohesity’s chief executive officer. “We’re excited to offer our customers in Japan even greater choice and flexibility in using Cohesity solutions to manage, protect, backup and recover their data.”

“The launch of the Cohesity Cloud Services portfolio of SaaS offerings in Japan enables customers to simplify their data management and security while leveraging Cohesity in the way that best fits their hybrid or multicloud environments. The availability of these solutions also offers our Japanese channel partners the opportunity to increase their unique value and offer customers customized or optimized solutions,” said Toshiaki Ito, President, and Representative Director, of Cohesity Japan. “Ransomware is the leading cybersecurity threat in Japan, which is why our advanced data management, protection, and recovery capabilities provide customers with the simple and powerful solutions they need to improve their security posture, improve cyber resilience and strengthen business continuity.”

Customers can subscribe to current and future Cohesity Cloud Service offerings through authorized Cohesity resellers, distributors, and on the AWS Marketplace. Cohesity Cloud Services not only give partners the ability to grow their recurring revenue business, but they can also extend their existing managed service offerings without having to build their own infrastructure. Partners can also use Cohesity Cloud Services as an entry point when considering starting a managed service practice.
