Couchbase, Inc. (NASDAQ: BASE), the cloud database platform company, today underscored its continued support for organizations across Europe by announcing Robert Ekstrom as Vice President, Europe. In this role, Ekstrom will be responsible for revenue growth and revenue generation across the region.
Ekstrom brings more than 20 years of global experience to this position and will closely support customers in innovating their modern applications. He specializes in driving commercial success in key sales enablement areas of companies and leading key regional departments. Ekstrom comes from integration service provider Workato and previously held senior positions at ServiceNow and Dell EMC.
Couchbase is also expanding its commitment to the region by expanding its Manchester facility to provide more support to global customers. The Manchester workspace now totals over 10,000 square feet. And in the last year, Couchbase has grown its UK headcount by more than 30%, with over 50% working in the Manchester office, including core teams across engineering, support, business development, product management and more.
“The pressure on companies across Europe to continuously innovate with modern applications and to support their customers in their digital transformation is not going away anytime soon,” commented Huw Owen, Chief Revenue Officer at UK-based Couchbase. “I’m thrilled that with our new Regional Vice President, Robert, and a deeper investment in Manchester, Couchbase is poised to provide even more innovation and support for clients.”
“Robert’s vision for the European market, combined with his expertise and regional knowledge, make him an ideal candidate for Couchbase,” adds Owen.
“I’m excited to join Couchbase and support some of the world’s leading companies with our Couchbase Capella™ Database-as-a-Service,” comments Ekstrom. “The need for powerful and cost-effective databases has never been greater. As more businesses seek cloud-based, managed services, Couchbase is well positioned to provide this next phase of implementation.”
The expanded Manchester office also benefits from recently hired R&D and technical support positions. “We have been fortunate to have had close ties to Manchester for almost 10 years and I look forward to continuing to build on this by expanding the office space in the city,” adds Owen.
