AION will be able to improve customer driving experiences thanks to the entire suite of Horizon Robotics Journey® series products.
On January 17, Guangzhou Automotive Group (“GAC”) AION, one of the top premium electric vehicle (EV) brands in China, and Horizon Robotics, a leading provider of energy-efficient computing solutions for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) in China, signed a comprehensive strategic partnership to jointly develop advanced driving assistance products. Horizon Robotics will continue to enable AION to fulfill customer demand for high-quality mobility and deliver a safer and more convenient experience for drivers and passengers throughout their trips with shipments of over 2 million Journey® series units across several car manufacturers in China.
As part of the cooperation, AION will create a number of industry-leading automobile models with cutting-edge autonomous driving and interactive in-cabin features. Both partners will investigate the viability of working together on development centered around Journey series solutions, including Journey 5, given that the AION model based on Journey 2 is now in mass production.
The worldwide change is now being led by the automobile industry. AION, a forerunner in the EV market, was founded with a revolutionary goal and saw rapid growth, with total sales reaching 271,000 in 2022, up 126% year over year.
Over the past few years, Horizon Robotics and GAC AION have developed a close working relationship. One of the most popular automobile models in China is the AION Y, which was introduced in April 2021 and is powered by Journey 2 technologies. It provides passengers with a safe and interactive in-cabin experience. As the automotive supply chain transitions from a vertical integration model to an interconnected network of suppliers, this successful relationship offers the sector a good example of collaboration.
The agreement, which builds on earlier triumphs, extends the partnership’s reach beyond in-cabin applications to driving assistance items. By offering its integrated software and hardware solutions, flexible open services, and extensive experience in mass manufacturing, Horizon Robotics will continue to support AION’s fast innovation. Both sides are dedicated to providing more Chinese customers with cutting-edge driver-assistance features for an improved driving experience as part of this strategic cooperation.
