Mesur.io gets awarded by the U.S. National Science Foundation

mesur.io certified by the U.S. National Science Foundation commissioned to integrate machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) to establish the Food, Land, Water, and Environmental Open-Source Risk Intelligence Synthesis Model (FLOWER-ISM) will address food-related challenges – and address food security. This award is part of Phase 1 of Track J: Food & Nutrition Security of the NSF Convergence Accelerator program.

Efforts will focus on identifying risks of conflict as well as risks to human populations related to food and water availability. Additional components of the system include forecasting competing demands for water for human consumption, agriculture, industry, and urban green spaces; and recognizing the impacts of climate change and land use change on food and water systems.

The National Science Foundation (NSF) builds on research and discovery to bring applied research to practice. The Convergence Accelerator program, an NSF program addressing national societal challenges, has selected 48 Phase 1 research teams for its 2022 Cohort, Track H Enhancing Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities, Track I: Sustainable Materials for Global Challenges, and Track J: Food and nutrition security.

The goal of Track J: Food & Nutrition Security is to bring together all food and nutrition sectors to address the intertwined challenges of supporting population health, combating climate change, and meeting the nutritional needs of the most vulnerable by empowering youth, Women, and disadvantaged communities are empowered.

“The Convergence Accelerator is a relatively young NSF program, but our unique program model is focused on delivering concrete solutions to address societal and economic challenges,” said Douglas Maughan, director of the NSF Convergence Accelerator program. “We are pleased to have select teams focused on developing application-centric solutions to address complex societal and economic challenges.”
