Multinet, Pakistan’s leading provider of information and communications solutions, has chosen IP Infusion’s OcNOS® networking operating system for its nationwide IP upgrade to 3.2 Tbps, according to a recent announcement from IP Infusion, a leading provider of open network software and solutions for wireline and mobile network operators. The largest Open Optical and Packet Transport (OOPT) project to date, it is based on technologies created by Telecom Infra Project (TIP). Multinet will modernise the more than 120 cities and 14,000 kilometres of its extensive transportation network, which serves more than 150 million people nationwide.
The extensive upgrade to Multinet includes OcNOS from IP Infusion, the first fully functional network operating system for white box disaggregated network solutions that enables the scalable migration from closed networks to open networks, as well as Cassini, TIP’s disaggregated coherent switch and open packet transponder developed by Edgecore Networks. This long-haul network infrastructure development significantly increases capacity by upgrading the network to 3.2 Tbps capacity utilising TIP Open Optical technologies, which were created to give greater connection around the world. Further TIP Open Optical ecosystem partners SmartOptics and regional Pakistani System Integrator partner STARCOM Technologies (Pvt) Ltd are part of Multinet’s long-haul network infrastructure rollout.

This platform supports Multinet’s effort to cost-effectively roll out high-speed network services at scale while building vendor-neutral disaggregated connectivity networks.
