Siemens expands its digitalization portfolio

With an innovative and industry-leading portfolio of hardware and software solutions to bring the real and virtual worlds together, Siemens announced an expanded portfolio for the machine tool industry. This enables manufacturers and users of machine tools to design, implement and optimize machines and components more quickly, react flexibly to market requirements and increase productivity across different user industries. These offers will be presented at IMTEX 2023 under the motto “Accelerate digitalization for machine tool manufacturing”.
Achim Peltz, CEO of Motion Control, Digital Industries, Siemens AG, said: “The machine tool industry in India can leverage the tremendous potential of production data to design, implement and optimize operations to achieve scale and profitability. Our portfolio for the machine tool industry enables flexible and sustainable action both in the construction of machines and in their use.”
SINUMERIK One – the Digital Native CNC
With SINUMERIK One, Siemens offers the technology to easily create and work with digital twins of machine tools. With its integrated SIMATIC S7-1500F PLC, it offers PLC cycle times that are up to 10 times faster. As a result, SINUMERIK One is fully integrated into the TIA Portal engineering framework and enables all engineering tasks for machine builders and users to be standardized. Integrated functions such as virtual commissioning and realistic process simulation open up new possibilities for machine manufacturers and users alike. This significantly shortens the product development phase, time-to-market and even production cycle times. Today, over 70% of Indian OEMs have already introduced SINUMERIK One to accelerate their digital transformation.
Industrialization of additive manufacturing
Siemens is the only service provider of integrated software and automation solutions under one roof for the industrial use of additive manufacturing (AM). This enables the creation, manufacture and use of additive applications, including mass production, covering the entire end-to-end value chain, by both industrial AM users and AM machine builders.
Siemens Xcelerator for digital transformation
Siemens announced the availability of tailored solutions for the machine tool industry in India as part of Siemens Xcelerator, the open digital business platform. These solutions meet the needs of companies in sectors such as engineering, metal fabrication, aerospace, automotive, electronics, power supply, power generation and medical equipment. Siemens Xcelerator for machine tools includes a selected portfolio of IoT-enabled hardware, software and a marketplace.
The Siemens Xcelerator marketplace offers Industrial Edge technology applications such as Protect MyMachine, Analyze MyWorkpiece and others that enable unprecedented security and workpiece quality. Various MindSphere applications such as Manage MyMachines and Analyze MyPerformance/OEE are also available on the marketplace, enabling intelligent resource management throughout manufacturing. The marketplace has other solutions available that help to optimize processes on the shop floor, manage tools efficiently and increase productivity.
Some of these applications offer broader connectivity even for CNC machines that are not equipped with SINUMERIK. Nothing stands in the way of a hall-wide connection of machines. With these offerings, machine builders and users can ensure they can build a machine or component faster, better, and more efficiently while increasing productivity.
