Zscaler Introduces Industry’s First Cloud Resilience Capabilities

Zscaler, the industry pioneer in cloud security, announced the new Zscaler Resilience™, a new collection of features that extend the resilience of Zscaler’s operations and architecture and uphold connections between users and devices to vital cloud-based services. These market-first SSE capabilities empower clients to anticipate and swiftly recover from black swan occurrences that could otherwise disrupt or halt business operations. They build upon 15 years of SaaS security innovation and run the world’s largest inline cloud security platform.

Natural disasters, vandalism, and catastrophic events brought on by nation-state actors are all difficult to foresee. Even if these disastrous incidents are rare, the stakes for cloud resilience keep going up. These occurrences can result in significant interruptions, the loss of sensitive data, and adverse effects on income and reputation. This risk is increasing by modern businesses employing highly mobile workers who depend on safe access to vital cloud-based services.

Zscaler Resilience is a service that helps businesses worldwide prepare for “black swan” disasters by leveraging the integrated services found in the Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange™ cloud security platform to provide distinctive business continuity capabilities.

Resilience to the Cloud: Preserving interconnections to public and private cloud applications

Zscaler Resilience protects businesses through power outages, network outages, and even uncommon black swan failure occurrences by automatically determining the best route from the user and device to the application. The following features add to Zscaler Resilience:

Catastrophic Recovery: In the event of a disaster that blocks access to private applications behind the Zscaler cloud, these customer-controlled operations give IT, and SecOps teams the ability to securely bypass the affected Zscaler cloud and connect to a Zscaler Private Service Edge in the customer’s local data centre or in a public cloud, where the most up-to-date security policies are still applying without stopping business. To maintain business continuity, direct internet access may be limited to the most crucial business applications using localized content screening and the Zscaler Client Connector.

Dynamic Performance-based Selection: By continually probing the gateways for HTTP latency and autonomously building tunnels that pick the ideal channel for traffic, this one-of-a-kind technology enables customers to swiftly recover from brownout situations that might cause performance deterioration between users and applications. An insufficient connection between the users and the applications can cause brownout scenarios.

Customer-controlled Data Center Exclusion: Customers will be able to specify a temporary exclusion period for one of the data centres with connection challenges, and they will be able to rejoin services after the problem has been fixed instantly.

In addition to these new features, Zscaler Resilience Audit™ is a brand-new personalized service that helps clients create business continuity plans by identifying areas for improvement and filling in any gaps before unanticipated events might cause delays.

A multi-billion Euro French global energy and services company that was an early adopter of Zscaler Resilience needed to maintain ongoing critical infrastructure for its distributed renewable energy and low carbon energy infrastructures to assist its clients in achieving their goals decarbonization targets in more than 30 countries. Uninterrupted asset uptime is crucial for providing services to specific families, towns, communities, and industries. The energy company can control access to applications whether the user is in the office or any remote location by utilizing the new Zscaler Resilience capabilities as an extension of their Zscaler Private AccessTM. It enables uninterrupted services to predefined applications, eliminates downtime, and ensures user productivity.

The contact centres for the energy provider can offer subscriptions and support to consumers round-the-clock, even in the case of an unforeseen incident, thanks to Zscaler Private Access’ expanded capability. Staff must be able to access data stored in several places without interruption to maintain an unbroken sales process. In order to facilitate a smooth transition to disaster recovery mode in an emergency, Zscaler Resilience uses existing architectural Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange platform components, such as the client connector, app connector, and private service edge (used for universal ZTNA).

“Executives have started to emphasize resilience to maintain business continuity as organizational settings have gotten more remote and cloud-centric,” said John Grady, Principal Analyst, Cybersecurity, Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG). Zscaler assists clients with uncomplicated and cost-effective planning for and speedy recovery from blackouts, brownouts, and black swan events that may otherwise impair or cease company operations by immediately integrating Zscaler Resilience into its Zero Trust Exchange platform.
